Starting on Friday (Feb 19), the US will rejoin the Paris Agreement. The Paris Agreement is an agreement by countries around the world to lower emissions. Emissions are bad for the planet because they cause pollution. The US was in the Paris Agreement until a few years ago, when Former President Donald Trump took the US out of the Paris Agreement.
The US will have to work harder now to catch-up with all its emission-cutting commitments. Even though emissions for the US are better now because of the Covid-19 pandemic, they are expected to come back again after the pandemic ends. Some of the ways the US will lower its emissions is by using more electric cars and renewable energy (like wind or solar), placing limits on emissions from power plants and factories,
