Pfizer just recently announced that the vaccine for children 5 to 11 years old might be approved by Halloween. The vaccine is already approved for people 12 and older. The company has finished the Phase 2/3 trial for the age group, and the vaccine was safe in that age group. Pfizer also said it will most likely submit it’s vaccine for 5 – 11 year olds soon to the FDA. The Phase 2 trial included 2,268 people in the age group, and it used 2 doses which were administered 21 days apart. Instead of using a 30 microgram dose that was used for people 12 and up, the company used a 10 microgram dose, which was carefully selected, using many different factors.
